The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is holding its annual conference this week.
The conference, which began yesterday, is being held in the Clayton White's hotel in Wexford,
Delegates from around the country are gathering to discuss issues such as pay, staffing levels and health & safety.
The issues of trolleys, beds and over-crowding will also be discussed at the three-day event.
Edward Mathews is the Director of regulation and social policy with the INMO:
"Yesterday over 350 delegates drew together and they are primarily concerned over these three days with staffing services."
"Also to ensure that nurses and midwives are paid an appropriate rate and that we can make sure that we have enough beds to provide the services that the public expect."
"Members will today debate an emergency motion calling on the organisation to engage in the upcoming pay talks to ensure restoration of that which was taken away, and to ensure that nurses and midwives are paid on a par with other allied health professionals."
