Irish people are continuing to choose radio as their audio companion every day.
According to the latest JNLR stats published earlier, 82% of Irish adults, aged 15 and over, tune into Irish radio on a daily basis.
The research also looked at consumption of audio content and share of audio listening. Live radio has 88% share of audio consumption in Ireland, compared with 8.6% share for listening to own music and 2.6% share for streaming music.
For younger adults aged 15-34, live radio accounts for 74% of their time spent listening to audio.
There's no battle of the sexes when it comes to love for radio either! Listenership across the country is made up of 51% female and 49% male. This audience is spread across the country with 64% of the listenership in urban areas and 36% in rural areas.
Radio is often described as the "original social media" and Irish radio has certainly left an imprint on social media channels with over 7 million social media connections for Irish radio stations across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
The Joint National Listenership Results issued today by Ipsos MRBI cover the period October 2015 - September 2016.
