A hotel in the south east recently completed refurbishment works in anticipation of a busy tourism season in 2017.
The 4* Fitzwilton Hotel in Waterford pumped €650,000 into a refurbishment programme.
The move is being seen to demonstrate a strong outlook in the Irish and Waterford tourism industry for the year ahead.
All 90 of the hotels rooms & suites have been given a facelift in addition to the hotel’s dining facilities of Chez K’s Bistro and the Met Bar.
All furnishings were updated while a warm autumnal colour scheme was introduced throughout the bedrooms.
Chez K’s Bistro also received a colour change of oceanic whites and blues.
Sales and Marketing manager Shay Bollard said “we wish to maintain the highest standards at The Fitzwilton Hotel and the refurbishment will certainly enhance our guests’ experience combining style, elegance and comfort.”
The Fitzwilton Hotel first opened its doors in 2006 and is managed on behalf of its owner by Dalata Hotel Group, Ireland’s largest hotel operator.

For 2016 we would have invested into the product to fully refurbish all 90 of the hotels rooms and suites including works to the hotels bar and bistro facilities also.
Looking forward for the first quarter of January through March on the books is quite strong for the year ahead. That again gives additional confidence to the powers that be, so we looking to get additional work done in 2017 which will pretty much finish off what will be a full refurb."
Mr Dawson added, "We haven't seen any negativity from the Brexit side of things and staycations are on the up. It's very much onwards and upwards.
The hotel's refurbishment is an indication of the positivity currently circulating in the tourism industry in addition to our current owner investing with confidence in the property and the city of Waterford."
