Kilkenny On Ice won't be going ahead this year.
Organisers say it's due to the extortionate price hikes in insurance for the yearly event.
Thousands of people who normally take to the rink in Cillin Hill every year will be left disappointed to hear the news.
A statement on the group's Facebook page says:

"It is with great regret and sadness that we announce that due to the unaffordable excessive Insurance costs we are unable to open this year."
"We sincerely apologize to all our patrons, suppliers, schools and charities that we sponsor."
"We hope that you all have a safe and peaceful Christmas and we hope to see ye all again next year."
