Irish Water and Wexford County Council have issued a Boil Water Notice for Wexford Town with immediate effect.
The Boil Water Notice has been put in place as a precaution, due to elevated levels of turbidity, or cloudiness, in the supply, which has impacted the treatment process.
The notice affects all areas of Wexford which are supplied by Wexford Town Public Water Supply.
Irish water says despite the best efforts yesterday and overnight, crews were unable to resolve the issues at the Treatment Plant.
In line with HSE COVID-19 advice, and the requirement for frequent hand washing, Irish Water advises that the water remains suitable for this purpose.
Vulnerable customers are reminded that the water is safe to consume once boiled.
Wexford County Council is working closely with Irish Water to lift the notice as soon as it is safe to do so.
