Housing for All plan: over half of the 1,400 affordable homes to be in Dublin

Housing for All plan: over half of the 1,400 affordable homes to be in Dublin

Waterford will see as few as 15 affordable homes built each year.

Laois has the lowest number planned annually up to 2026, according to figures obtained by the Irish Independent.

Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth and Westmeath will also have less than 50 affordable homes delivered every year, under the multi-billion euro Housing for All plan.

More than 1,000 of the 14 hundred homes are to be in the capital.

Housing Lecturer at TU Dublin, Lorcan Sirr, says the numbers fall well below what's needed.

"Given the scale of the housing demands, it's really small and I think that's the problem.

"Some counties are not getting any, it's only 18 in 31 local authorities that are being allocated these affordable housing.

"I cant see it making much of a dent in the real housing need out there."
