Families are being forced to buy homes which are situated two counties away from where they work.
That's according to the latest figures, which has seen homes in the South East increase in price in the first quarter of 2016
The latest figures were in the Irish Independent and were provided by Real Estate Alliance.
It shows Waterford is the most expensive county in the South East to buy a three-bed semi detatched home, with an average cost of 157 thousand euro.
That's an increase of 1.6 percent.
Kilkenny is next where a home would cost you around 147 thousand, a 1.7 percent rise
Carlow has seen the biggest rise of the 5 counties, with prices rising by 2.1 percent to an average of 145 thousand
Wexford remains unchanged at 140 thousand euro, with a point 8 7 percent increase for Tipperary at just under 130 thousand.
