If you're a history enthusiast then a very different New Years Celebration in Wexford might be for you.
Hook Lighthouse is leading the people of the south-east into the New Year tomorrow with a 17th century Arrow ceremony performed by the Dunbrody archers.
The tradition harks back to a 1696 tradition where the mayor and New Ross Town Council used the ceremony of shooting arrows into the sea as a way of marking their authority over the estuary.
The Taking of the Waters ceremony is a chance to welcome in the New Year, celebrating the world's 2nd oldest operating lighthouse safely guiding us from one year to the next all along Ireland's historic Ancient East.
The public are invited to come along to the celebrations to ring in the New Year.
The event takes place from 1pm on the 1st and is free for all.
