It was joy all round for the Irish Mens and Ladies teams late yesterday evening when both teams put through a near perfect performance on the final day of the 4-day competition to win Gold at the World Shore Angling Championships.
The Mens and Ladies had to withstand strong competition from the chasing pack as the final day’s fishing got under way at Ballyhealy and Kilgorman beaches.
Tactics were the key to success as the Irish anglers made the most of their local knowledge to power to victory, with excellent catches from each team member contributing to a memorable success as both the Mens and Ladies teams won gold for Ireland.
The Ladies team success was even more remarkable as this was their very first time to send a team to the World Shore Angling Championships.
