Gardaí in Tipperary are investigating an alleged assault on a child, that took place at an under nine hurling blitz.
It's understood a man grabbed the child by the throat during the competition last Saturday.
The Irish Mirror reports an investigation has been launched into the incident, but no arrests have been made to date.
According to the newspaper, “The allegation is the man walked onto the pitch during a game, confronted a nine-year-old and grabbed him by the throat”
The Irish Mirror reports that A Garda spokesman confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault.
He said: “ Gardaí at Thurles were alerted shortly after 1pm on Saturday 15 th October 2022 following an incident of alleged assault at a sports event in Thurles."
“Enquires into the matter are ongoing."
