A disqualified motorist has been arrested by gardaí after evading a routine Covid checkpoint.
Carlow's Road Policing Unit were conducting an Operation Fanacht checkpoint in Carlow when members of the patrol noticed a vehicle turn away.
Gardaí then pursued and caught up with the blue Audi A3 only to discover the motorist was disqualified.
The driver was arrested with proceedings to follow.
Taking to Twitter, the Garda Traffic Twitter account stated: "Carlow Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint as part of #OperationFanacht when they saw this car turn away. The vehicle was followed and stopped. It was found that the driver was disqualified. The driver was arrested. Proceedings to follow #StaySafe"
