The woman's name has been released locally as Rita Apine (29).
9AM:
Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to the death of a woman in Kilkenny yesterday.
The woman in her 20s was found at the foot of a stairs in a house on Bridge Street in Freshford shortly after midday.
She later passed away at St Luke's Hospital.
The State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will be carried out today at University Hospital Waterford.
Gardai are particularly appealing to anybody who visited the local Costcutter shop or who may have been in the Bridge Street area between the hours of 8am and 1pm.
