The HSE has welcomed the granting of full planning permission by Waterford Council for the development of a 100 bed Community Nursing Unit on the grounds of St. Patrick’s Hospital in Waterford.
The full funding of €19.8 million for the project is provided for as part of completion of public residential centres in the HSE’s 2016-21 Capital Plan.
A planning application on behalf of the HSE was submitted to Waterford Council earlier this year for construction of a new two storey and part single storey, 100 bed residential healthcare unit with ancillary facilities on the HSE’s property at St. Patrick’s Hospital, John’s Hill, Waterford. The local authority had requested further information on the application and a number of planning conditions have been applied.
Welcoming the news and outlining details of the project, Ms. Aileen Colley (Chief Officer, Community Healthcare Organisation 5 – the South East) said:
“Plans for this purpose built, state of the art project have been in mind for some time. This is excellent news for the community we serve in the general Waterford/South Kilkenny area.”
