Waterford Airport has confirmed that it plans to place four of its staff on temporary layoff.
The decision will come into effect on Monday, August 7th, and a spokesperson for the airport said that the layoffs will remain in place until there is official confirmation of the start of new scheduled air services by Aer Southeast.
The proposed service to London Luton, Birmingham and Manchester was suspended after it came to light that Aer Southeast didn’t have a tour operators license.
Bookings opened on June 20th but a day later the website was taken down after it emerged the airline hadn't secured the appropriate licence to sell tickets.
The Company recently refunded those who had purchased tickets.
Waterford Airport remains confident that once new passenger services are in place, they will reinstate the four members of staff.
