Four South East counties have been upgraded to a Status Orange Rain warning.
The alert, which includes Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford, will last until 9pm tonight.
Met Éireann has warned of heavy rainfall and the possibility of sleet or snow in some areas.
There is also a risk of localised flooding which could lead to poor driving conditions.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow Low Temperature and Ice warning has been issued for the entire South East.
It will come into effect from 8pm tonight and last until 10am tomorrow morning.
Hazardous conditions due to a widespread severe frost leading to ice on untreated surfaces.
