A fundraiser will take place in County Wexford today to raise money for a new inshore lifeboat.
Fethard RNLI are launching an 18 month appeal to raise 65,000 euro by the end of 2017, by which time they hope to have a new D class lifeboat.
To launch the drive, the RNLI are holding an open tour of their station at Fethard on Sea at 2pm.
They say this specific type of lifeboat is able to get around cliffs, headlands and rocky areas where the bigger types of boats can't get into.
In the last 20 years a lifeboat has been launched in the area 257 times, rescuing 163 people and saving 8 lives.
RNLI is a completely voluntary organisation.
