Every household in the country will get €200 off their energy bills from April.
The President has signed the credit into law, which is aimed at helping with the rising cost of living.
The reduction will be listed as €176.22, but the discount will be €200, including VAT.
Householders don't need to apply for the discount, or contact their energy supplier, as the credit will be applied automatically.
Speaking over the weekend Minister Eamon Ryan said that the government is "acutely aware of recent increases in the cost of living and the impact of rising inflation right across the economy."
He continued: “Increased energy costs have played a significant role in this, due to rising energy costs internationally and, more recently, due to the crisis in Ukraine."
