Enda says young people have the power to make a difference in Wexford

The Taoiseach says it was heart-warming to see the number of young people registering to vote in the upcoming General Election.

Last week, images surfaced on social media of college students queuing outside local Garda Stations to get onto the register to vote in the poll at the end of the month.

Enda Kenny said it was good to see the momentum of the marriage equality referendum had passed over to the General Election

Speaking to Beat News in Wexford on Monday night, the Taoiseach said they have the power to make a difference.

"It's the power of politics, it's the engagement of young people and generally the power of the people to be able to change a constitution.

When I saw them, at the airports and the railway stations and the road crossings with their signs that said 'will you come out for us?' we were very happy to respond with the opportunity to vote in a referendum like that.

And I do hope that this election here brings back that for young people, that they've got the power to make the decision now."
