"A lot done, a lot more to do".
That's how the South East Regional Manager of the IDA has described the employment situation in the region.
Anne-Marie Tierney-Le Roux was speaking at yesterday's announcement of 200 news jobs at Eirgen Pharmaceuticals in Waterford which will be rolled out over the next 5 years.
However they have also been job losses in 2016, most notably the loss of 100 jobs at a plant in Cashel last month.
Ms Tierney-Le Roux says progress IS being made.
"I feel very happy with what we've achieved in the past 12 months, I think we've had significant announcements across the region, but there's a lot more to do as well. I'm keenly aware of the economic challenges across the region and for IDA Ireland I think we have to secure balanced regional investment and for that it means we have to win evenly across the region."
