Waterford airport is to receive emergency funding of €375,000 to assist with ongoing operational costs.
The airport is not eligible for its 2018 operational funding from the department of transport because it hasn't had commercial flights since 2016.
A development plan valued at €5m has already been submitted by Waterford airport and includes a runway extension.
For the moment - the emergency funding will ensure the airport can continue to facilitate the Irish Coast Guard station.
