11:35 am: In Waterford, we’re just past the 70% mark of the first Tally and David Cullinane is still top of the polls.
11:33 am: Boxes continue to be opened in the Carlow Kilkenny Constituency at Lyrath Hotel. Earlier tallies - with 92 Carlow boxes opened - showed Jennifer Murnane O'Connor on 31%, Kathleen Funchion on 26% and Pat Deering on 19%. It seems the exit poll was correct in that constituency, with Sinn Fein coming out on top.
11:16 am: Tipp tallies also show that deceased candidate, Marese Skeehan, received 76 votes so far.
11:13 am: Tallies are showing Lowry in first position in Tipperary with 16% of the vote, Browne is second with 12%, and McGrath third with 11%.
11:10 am: 92 Carlow boxes opened as of 11am. Jennifer Murnane O'Connor is at 31.25%, Kathleen Funchion at 26.45% and Pat Deering at 19.46%
10:47 am: Here's the latest and most comprehensive Waterford tally. As it stands, David Cullinane (SF) is heading the count, followed by Mary Butler (FF) and John Cummins (FG).
10:46 am: 22% of the boxes have been tallied in Tipperary, and Beat’s Kevin Galvin says early tallies show Michael Lowry in an expected lead on 16%, with Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne - who lost his local council seat in 2019 - just four per cent behind. Mattie McGrath is on 11%, Jackie Cahill follows with 10% and Alan Kelly on 8% currently make up the remaining three seats, but it looks early on like something resembling the 2016 election, with a dogfight for the four seats left after Lowry is elected.
There have however been problems tallying some areas, notably Carrick-on-Suir, with turned and crumpled papers making things extremely difficult for the tallymen and women trying to build an early picture in the South-East of the county.
