A woman has died after an incident in Macroom earlier today.
According to reports, the elderly woman was struck by a lorry on Main Street shortly after 1 pm, as dignitaries were gathered north of the town to mark the official opening of the new bypass.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene including Gardai and Fire Brigade, but the woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
The road is currently closed and diversions are in place, with passengers asked to take alternative routes.
As reported by CorkBeo, A spokesperson for the Gardai press office said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the Main Street in Macroom, County Cork.
"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. No further information is available at this time"
