Dunmore-East is set to host a live outdoor screening of the first episode of the Eastenders spin-off drama series Redwater, which airs Sunday, May 14th on RTÉ One.
The BBC production, filmed in association with RTÉ, will take a look at Eastenders characters Kat and Alfie and their lives post-Eastenders in the fictional village of Redwater.
This is the first time that two characters from a major British soap have been given their own spin-off series.
The Strand Inn will be the focal point of the drama series and will feature as five separate locations throughout the series.
Dunmore East’s blue flag beach and the local Church of Ireland will also feature in Redwater, along with many local people taking part in the production - both as crew extras.
Clifden Foyle, proprietor of The Strand Inn spoke about the recent production in Dunmore East.
“It is our hope that, much like Broadchurch and Dorset, Redwater will galvanise tourism, not just in Dunmore East, but Waterford as a whole.”
Waterford City and County Council believe that the airing of Redwater could bring an increase in visitors to the area.
Redwater airs Sundays on RTÉ One at 9.30pm and Thursdays on BBC One.
