Darkness into Light is taking place across the region tonight.
In total, 150 events are being organised across four continents.
These include walks a little closer to home in Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow, and Tipperary.
The annual event aims to raise funds for Pieta House's life-saving services.
In 2009, some 400 people attended the first Darkness Into Light with the number increasing to 130,000 last year.
Centre Manager for Pieta House in Waterford and the South East, Michael O'Brien explained that "every time a person comes through Pieta House it costs approximately €1,000 from the beginning to end - per individual, €1,000 is required".
"Primarily about 90% of our funding comes from the generosity of the public and our diasporas abroad".
The annual fundraising movement kicks off at 4.15am on Saturday, May 6th all over Ireland to help promote suicide prevention in Ireland.
