Cyclist airlifted to hospital following collision on Waterford Greenway

A cyclist had to be airlifted to hospital after colliding with another cyclist on Waterford's Greenway yesterday.

It happened just before noon on Thursday, April 7th, with the second cyclist also receiving injuries.

Due to the location of the accident, the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) was among the first emergency services to respond.

Speaking to WLR FM, SEMRA member, Chris Murray outlined the details of the call-out.

"At approximately 11:53 am we received a call from the National Ambulance Service that there were two injured cyclists on The Greenway outside Lemybrien", said Sean.

"We had four members arrive at the scene and they worked alongside members of the coastguard, ambulance service, Gardaí and Rescue 117.

"One of the casualties was airlifted due to the injuries received and the other was taken by ambulance."
