Cushinstown National School in Co Wexford is closed until Monday the 25th of April.
A statement from the school to parents says it's due to absence and the unavailability of independent school management and senior staff.
The statement says;
"Due to the absence/unavailability of ISM and senior staff in the school, I have no choice but to close the school for the remainder of the week."
"The health and safety of the children is a priority. School will reopen as scheduled on Monday 25th April."
It's understood that the Bishop of Ferns, Ger Nash, had to take over as manager of the school in January due to what was described at the time as a breakdown in relations among staff.
Locals have described the situation as worrying and say parents are concerned about their children's education.
In a statement to Beat News this afternoon, Bishop Ger Nash says;
"Cushinstown NS has a single manager, John Roche, who yesterday took the decision to close the school early for Easter due to the unavailability of staff."
"The decision was made after seeking advice and was made on health and safety grounds."
Beat News has contacted the Department of Education and Bishop Nash for comment this afternoon.
