Parents whose son was killed in a elementary school shooting in Connecticut have been awarded 4 million dollars in damages.
They successfully sued internet conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for falsely claiming the mass shooting in 2012 was a hoax.
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 26 people.
Twenty of the victims were children between six and seven years old, and six were adult staff members
Mr. Jones had claimed that the children killed in the gun massacre were actors and reports of the shooting were propaganda aimed at removing guns from US society.
A jury in Texas still has to decide further damages against Jones for spreading falsehoods.
