Irish coast guards in Louth were summoned to Mell, Drogheda after a 112 call reported a discovery in the river Boyne.
According to Drogheda Coast Guard on their Facebook page, a land team was dispatched to investigate the sighting - which looked like dinosaur skeleton remains.
“It's not every day someone calls into the National Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre to report a Dinosaur in the water,” they wrote.
However, on further inspection, it was confirmed that it was a very impressive imitation, “a tyrannosaurus wreck if you will”.
MRCC was informed along with Louth county council and the unit stood down.
In a warning to the public after the incident, they said: “Remember if you see someone (or something) in trouble on or near the water dial 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard”
