Clonmel runner Sergiu Ciobanu says he hopes to get back in the Irish team for the European Cross Country Championships.
He was the fastest Irishman to finish the Dublin Marathon last Sunday.
Team Ireland decided to leave the Moldovian born athlete at home for last year's Olympics.
Speaking to Beat, Sergiu said that while it was disappointing to be left out, he's hoping to get back on track.
"Hopefully in four weeks time I'll be back running in the National Clubs Cross Country and involved in the European Cross selection as well.
"I'll be happy to make the Irish team for the Euro Cross but if it doesn't happen I'll take a break for Christmas.
"Of course then I will set my sights on the World Championships where I still have to get to the qualification standard."
He also praised the facilities for running around Clonmel.
"I love running in Clonmel, I use some really nice trails in the woods and by the riverbank.
"The running track is not the best in the country. Hopefully that can be improved in the future for the younger athletes. I love Clonmel for running it's great."
