Churches in South East introduce ‘tap and go’ cashless donation

Some Catholic churches around the country have already implemented a cashless payment point, to help counteract the decline in general cash transactions and the South East is the latest to make the transition.

Wexford Parish have announced that the contactless payment system is now in place in their churches.

Taking to Social Media this afternoon, Fr.James Cullen CC shared the news with their online parishioners.

People attending the church from now on can make a donation without worry if they have coins or cash in the pocket.

For those who are unsure of how to do so, a poster demonstration is also on site to help.

"Card and Phone tap or contactless payment system is now available in Wexford Parish Churches. Pictured below is Mr Declan Torsney National Corporate Sales Manager | AIB Merchant Services, with Fr James Cullen CC as they demonstrate how the system works."

There's no doubt, we will see more card payment terminals installed in parishes to provide a 'tap and go' donation option.

The move comes following successful projects in other Irish parishes, particularly in Dublin.
