Changes to Kilkenny's Ballyhale Shamrocks Leinster Hurling Final

The GAA has confirmed a change of schedule for this weekend's AIB Leinster club senior hurling final, to accommodate Kilmacud Crokes dual player Brian Sheehy.

Ballyhale Shamrock's provincial showdown with Kilmacud has been swapped with the Dublin side’s football final against The Downs.

The implications of this are straightforward, with Pat Hoban’s side now taking the field at 2.30 pm on Sunday.

The senior football final will follow directly afterwards at 4.30 pm.

The Kilkenny kingpins confirmed their place in the final with a hard-fought victory over Naas last weekend.

What ended as a comfortable scoreline on paper was anything but, as the Kildare outfit was more than a match for TJ Reid's side in the first half.

Naas side stormed out of the blocks, developing a lead of 1-04 to 0-01 after the opening 10 minutes.

Even more remarkable, was the number of opportunities squandered by the outsiders - who had a shot at goal on three occasions before finally hitting the net.

Ultimately, a key third quarter saw Ballyhale hit two quick-fire goals, leading them to a scoreline of 3-22 to 1-16.

Reid and co are now in line for a fourth consecutive Leinster title, as they go in search of another All-Ireland crown.

You can still ensure your place at the final, with tickets available locally from Centra and SuperValu outlets.

Please note that there will not be any match-day sales available at Croke Park.
