The African community in Waterford are celebrating 'Africa Day' today.
African culture, dance, costumes and food will be showcased to highlight the diverse African countries and ethnicities living in the city and county of Waterford.
The Charge de Affairs of Lesotho will be speaking at today's event, highlighting Ireland's close ties with Africa.
Richard Awosika, from the Waterford Immigrants Forum explains to Beat News what's happening today:
"The doors will be opening at 5 o'clock, we've invited quite a number of guests, we're going to have an African show of culture - different groups will be performing, basically celebrating everything Africa has to offer".
The Mayor of Waterford City and the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore will both be in attendance at today's event.
The celebrations will get underway at St. Patricks Gateway Centre in Ballybricken from 5pm this evening.
All are invited to attend.
