A Carlow Guide leader has been appointed the President of the Irish Girl Guides
Maureen Murphy has been involved since she was a teen in England.
She's held many roles including Leader and Regional CoOrdinator for the South East
Maureen said a lot of girls in the South East take part.
Maureen told Beat News that there are 160 units in the South East ranging from Ladybirds which are children aged 5 - 7, Brownies aged 7 - 10 and guides aged 10 -14, as well as the senior branch ranging in age from 14 to 30.
All leaders operate on a voluntary basis.
