This year's Carlow Rose for the annual Rose of Tralee competition will be the only mother among 57 other girls.
24-year-old Shauna Ray Lacey says her three-year-old daughter Emmy will be cheering on her "mother rose" during the competition.
There are always teachers, nurses and doctors in the competition but this year Shauna will be the only mother.

According to today's Irish Independent, Shauna said that "times are changing" and she is excited to be a part of the 59th Rose of Tralee competition.
She says her daughter Emmy will be with her "all the way and will be taking part in celebrating the festival".
Shauna will be supported all the way to the dome by her mother Angela Ray, musician brother Luke, partner John and of course little Emmy.
