The future of the GAA's plans could be thrown into doubt after a GAA player from Carlow was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Clubs across the Carlow/Laois border are now involved in the contact tracing process after the player from Old Leighan GAA Club was involved in two challenge matches last week.
Old Leighan have released a statement in the last hour, confirming one of its players have tested positive, after playing challenge matches against two Laois clubs this week.
There are also concerns about the aligned Naomh Bríd hurling club, who have also been playing matches this week.
Killeshin and Arles-Kilcruise have now both contacted the GAA for further help, in an incident which could have lasting effects on Gaelic Games going forward, should players on either team be found as being positive for the virus.
Dressing rooms remain closed for all activity, and outdoor training sessions and matches will not constitute a close contact, but rather will be deemed a 'casual' contact.
Beat have contacted Old Leighan, Naomh Bríd, and Carlow GAA for comment.
