Fire fighters battle large gorse fires on Mount Leinster

Carlow Fire & Rescue Service are currently battling a large gorse fire on Mountt Leinster.

The road to the 9 stones from Bunclody/Myshal side will be closed for a number of hours.

The fire service are urging people to stay away from the area until further notice while also asking people not to light fires outdoors for any reason. "These are very difficult conditions for our fire crews to work in"

In an updated post to Facebook the fire service has asked for anyone that is flying drones and paragliders in the area to remove themselves immediately. They warned that this could cause them to lose aerial support which will impact their ability to fully extinguish the fire.
