Keep your eyes peeled this October for moths hiding out in towns and cities across the region.

Irish Times reported sightings of unusual looking caterpillars and moths creeping around Wexford and Carlow.

The creatures can come into your homes through windows and doors and sometimes, with your shopping.

Most moths and moth caterpillars eat fruit or seeds, and a few eat animal foods like beeswax or fur.

They sometimes can be found with your fruit and veg from your weekly shop.

Moths at this time of year can range from a camouflaged brown to bright golden yellow with caterpillars following similar suit in colouring.

Moths such as the small elephant hawk moth and the angle shades moth can be found feasting on a pile of leaves near you!
