Gardaí in Kilkenny are searching for two men who have made an escape through fields off the M9 motorway in Kilkenny this evening.
Alarms were raised this evening when a car was seen speeding and acting suspiciously going out of Kilkenny city towards Dublin.
Gardai then pursued the vehicle before those driving pulled over and abandoned the car shortly after 4 o'clock just on the Carlow side of Junction 7 Paulstown.
Kilkenny Gardaí told Beat News that they believe the men, in their 20s or early 30s, may have been involved in a crime and are anxious to find them.
One of the group, who has a criminal record and a background in criminality, has already been arrested and the car has also been impounded.
Gardai are urging residents of both Paulstown and Thomastown to report any suspicious activity, not to approach but rather contact Gardai in Kilkenny on 056 7775000.
