Beach wheelchairs, which were first introduced at two locations in Wexford last year are now available in more parts of the South East.
The specially designed wheelchairs allow the users to go into 6 inches of water, and also enables them to paddle their feet in the water.
They were first introduced at Curracloe Beach last year before expanding to Rosslare.
Now they can also be booked at Carne, Morriscastle and Duncannon beaches in the county.
Kevin Murphy from the Surf Shake in Curracloe says the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
"We had a lady come back in tears. It was the first time her son had been to the beach and was able to drop the net at the bottom of the wheelchair and paddle in the water, it's absolutely fabulous.
He says the scheme needs to be rolled out nationwide.
"It's a must really. It's taken years for us to realise that people in wheelchairs don't have the same access to beaches as we do so it's a big move. Not before time".
