At least two new countries to be added to travel Green List on Monday

Germany and Cyprus are set to be part of the updated travel green list next Monday.

Irish people will be allowed to visit those areas without the need to self-isolate when they return.

That will be in place until next month when Ireland will align with the EU's 'traffic light' plan, which would define a 'green country' as having an incidence rate of less than 25 cases per 100 thousand people.

Editor with Travel Extra Eoghan Corry says if Ireland adopts it fully, more countries would be added:

"The European Union tend to be inclusive about how they're defining their list, while Ireland tends to be exclusive", he said.

"If 25 is the figure, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, the Baltic Countries, the Scandanavian counties, Slovenia, Slovakia, and as I said, Germany and Poland will be in."
