The army bomb disposal team has made safe an historic artillery shell in Co. Waterford.
The historic shell was found in a residential area of Dunmore East this afternoon.
The army bomb disposal team was called to the scene following a request from Gardai, when a suspicious device was discovered by members of the public.
Some local residents were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution, and a cordon was put in place.
The Defence Forces are appealing to members of the public who come across historic explosives or weapons to contact gardai, and maintain a safe distance from the device.
