Don't put away the winter coat just yet!
Monday may have been the hottest day of the year so far, but the weather is set to get significantly colder this Easter bank holiday weekend as an 'article plunge' moves down over the South East.
This week is set to be largely dry with prolonged spells of unbroken sunshine, but it will get significantly colder going into Saturday as Arctic air pulls down isolated wintry showers and biting winds before the cold air mass fully extends over the region on Monday.
Night-time temperatures are expected to fall to sub-zero in inland areas, while daily temperatures could be as low as 6 degrees celsius.
Look what the Easter Bunny is bringing! A plunge of really cold air from Arctic pushing down from Sunday. This will bring some bitterly cold winds and wintry showers for Easter Monday. pic.twitter.com/mejc0YUj2K

Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly took to Twitter on Tuesday, saying: "The latest weather model ensembles show the dramatic drop in upper air temperatures from Sunday... Gardeners and fruit farmers be alert."
It's too far out to know for sure if the cold spell will stick around, but current weather models forecast that it could potentially stay cool for all of next week. We'll keep you posted on that!
