Speaking to Beat News, he gave an update on power outages in the region:
Over 10,000 homes are currently without power as storm Diana sweeps across the country.
In Kilkenny, outages have been reported in Urlingford, Rosbercon and Ballyhale, while a fault has also been recorded in Bansha, Tipperary.
Both orange and yellow wind warnings are in place with winds of up to 130km per hour expected in the South and West.
An orange wind warning has been issued for Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Galway and Clare.
A yellow warning is in place for Kilkenny, Carlow and Tipperary, with winds of up to 110km per hour expected.

The inclement weather has also affected the ferry service between Passage East and Ballyhack.
A number of flights have been affected at Cork and Dublin airports.
RSA Spokesperson Brian Farrell is warning motorists that the conditions will make driving riskier.
