The official launch has taken place of the 2nd Waterford Walls project.
This year's event runs from August 25th to 28th and sees over 40 artists transform derelict buildings across the city and, for the first time, Tramore.
Two new elements to this years programme will be public art installations by local primary children as well as indoor and outdoor music taking place across the city.
Waterford Walls co-founder Edel Tobin says the city is a perfect location for the project.
"Waterford is a beautiful city. Unfortunately it has seen bad times in recent years like any other town or city in the country, but at the same time how can we turn something that's negative and take people's eyes from the ground and lift them up, and what better way than these beautiful pieces of art which are left in the city".
One of the artists Joe Caslin is hopeful that the Ard Ri site overlooking the City could one day be a part of the project.
"It's one of the most prominent locations in the country. It's on my top hit list and I'd love to get that site. In a way it's not just my journey to get that site, this is a site that can be nutured and taken back by the city and I think that's important that people realise they can get involved in such a place".
This year's brand ambassador is rugby pundit Brent Pope - he's hoping Waterford people get out and support the initiative.
"This is such a wonderful concept and for the listeners out there, please get behind the Waterford Walls. These are the world's top artists coming to your city to showcase it. This is art that will go around the world and showcase the city so embrace the whole idea.
