341 W.I.T. students are signed up to 'Sugar Baby' website

341 students from Waterford Institute of Technology have signed up to become Sugar Babies.

Sugar Babies are young people who allow older men and women to lavish gifts on them in return for dates.

W.I.T. is among the top ten colleges in Ireland with students signed up to the SeekingArrangement.com website, according to the website's founder. The list was published today by Dublin Live.

Students from Irish universities are signing up for the site in an effort to help them pay their fees. There were 50 new signups from W.I.T. last year, bringing the total number of students signed up to 341. UCD has the highest number of signups.

The website describes Sugar Daddies as: “Successful men and women who know what they want. They’re driven, and enjoy attractive company by their side. Money isn’t an issue, thus they are generous when it comes to supporting a Sugar Baby.”

And Sugar Babies are described on the website as: “Attractive people looking for the finer things in life. They appreciate exotic trips and gifts. Sugar Babies get to experience a luxurious lifestyle, and meet wealthy people on a regular basis.”

The website's founder said the average monthly allowance for an Irish Sugar Baby was around €2,150 - a lot more than those students making ends meet by working for the minimum wage.
