The wreckage of Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 116 has been located off the Mayo coast at Blackrock.
Search teams found the wreckage close to the spot where a signal from the helicopter's black box recorder was detected last week.
3 agencies are involved in the search. They have confirmed that an underwater ROV (remote operated vehicle) has found the wreckage, but investigators have said that a more detailed examination of the wreckage has yet to take place.
That is weather dependant.
Statement from the AAIU:
"The AAIU in consultation with An Garda Síochána, the Navy, the Coast Guard, the GSI and the Marine Institute wish to advise that following initial Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) operations the wreckage of R116 has been positively located on the sea bed on the Eastern side of Black Rock, at a depth of approx. 40m. Operations are continuing but are weather dependent."
