11 people are due before the courts after 30 arrests as part of Operation Storm in Carlow.
The operation took place between 8am and 5pm in Carlow District yesterday as members of the local force were joined by personnel from Customs, Revenue and the Department of Social Protection.
Those detained were for offences including thefts, assaults, burglaries, possession, and sale & supply of drugs.
Another 14 people were arrested on foot of warrants and in total, 60 criminal checkpoints were carried out over four days.
Crime Prevention leaflets were also handed out to members of the public to increase the awareness of
protection of personal property and possessions.
Community Engagement Centres were set up at various shopping centres in Carlow town, and the Garda
Mounted Unit visited primary schools in the area.
