The first reported birth is understood to have been in St Lukes in Kilkenny when a bouncing baby girl was born 18 minutes after midnight.
4 babies were born in Wexford between 12.23 and 3.15am.
While one baby girl was delivered at University Hospital Waterford at 2.20am.
Beat News can confirm there were no New Year’s births at South Tipperary General.
Meanwhile The Rotunda Hospital in Dublin can boast the first babies born in Ireland in 2017.
The twin boys made their entrance into the world at precisely one second past midnight.
