Jake Black, co-founder of the Alabama 3 group has died.
Black was taken ill after a show with the band on Friday and died in hospital on Tuesday.
Known as The Very Reverend D Wayne Love, Black founded the band in 1995 with fellow singer Rob Spragg and have recorded dozens of albums since.
The bands biggest hit Woke Up This Morning was used as the intro music for HBO's hit show The Sopranos.
While unsure of Black's age, reports suggest that the singer was in his late 50s.
A tribute was posted on the bands Facebook page in which he was described as "our friend comrade and spiritual leader".
"After a magnificent performance at the Highest Point Festival in Lancashire, D.Wayne in his supreme wisdom, decided it was the appropriate moment for his ascension into the next level. We are heartbroken.
"All that remains for us, at this moment, is to carry out his precise instructions regarding the continuation of his teachings as a First Minister of The Presleyterian Church of Elvis The Divine, and continue The Great Work.
"His last words, which we have yet to decipher, were "Tweet Tweet, Possil Fleet".
