A Welsh mother has sparked controversy online as she revealed that she charges her children for Christmas dinner.
Caroline Duddridge from Cardiff has been asking for money from her children for Christmas dinner for the last six years, and even sets a deadline for the payment.
Speaking to BBC5 this week, Caroline explained that she has five children and six grandchildren, and "if you don't pay by December 1st, you're not coming."
Caroline charges her sons £15(€17), her daughters £10(€11) and grandchildren must pay between £2.50 and £5 (€2.80-€5.60) depending on age.
The mother of six believes this is a good lesson for her children and grandchildren, as the cost of living crisis affects everyone. "Obviously there were a few moans and grumbles saying 'I've got a few children,' but at the end of the day that's not my problem really, is it?"
Caroline also charges her daughters less than her sons for dinner, as they have children and only work part-time.
According to the Sun, Caroline is a former teaching assistant and currently lives on a widow's pension of £1,000. Her children vary in age between 24 and 37 years and have now gotten used to her annual phone call chasing her dinner deposit money.
Caroline told the Sun "I don't allow late payments and the kids know it. Some complain about their bills and other costs, but I simply tell them they'll get uninvited. Everyone pays up."
